ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To explore the influence of maternal blood donation before pregnancy on neonatal birth weight. 【Methods】 A total of 6 428 full-term (gestational age ≥37 weeks) singleton pregnant women in Ningbo Medical Center Lihuili Hospital and Ningbo Women and Children′s Hospital from January 2020 to October 2020 were enrolled in this study. The cumulative whole blood donations before pregnancy were obtained through Alipay software. The relevant data of parturients and their fetuses were collected from electronic medical records. 【Results】 The maternal blood donation rate in Zhejiang Province before pregnancy was 14.69%. The average age of women was 29 (27-32), and the median of cumulative blood donation (except 0 mL) before pregnancy was 300 mL. Univariate analysis showed that there was no significant difference in neonatal gender, neonatal birth weight, proportion of low birth weight infants and proportion of macrosomia among non blood donation group, low blood donation group and high blood donation group (P>0.05). After multiple linear regression analysis, it was found that there was no correlation between blood donation before pregnancy and the neonatal birth weight (B=0.123, 95%CI: -1.013-8.461, P>0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that, compared with the non blood donation group, the occurrence of macrosomia was higher in both the low blood donation group and the total blood donation group (OR=1.366, 95%CI: 1.007-1.766, P<0.05; OR=1.369, 95%CI: 1.019-1.851, P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 Maternal blood donation before pregnancy may not be related to neonatal birth weight, but may be related to the probability of macrosomia in their offspring.

ABSTRACT

As an extremely important organelle in eukaryotic cells, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) plays a key role in the synthesis and processing of biomacromolecules, material transport, ion homeostasis maintenance, signal transduction, exchange of materials and signals between organelles. Many important human diseases, such as cancers, autoimmune diseases, pathogenic infections, neurodegenerative diseases and diabetes, are closely related to ER dysfunction. With the development of nanotechnology, the exploration and application of ER-targeted nanodrugs gradually become a research hotspot in the field of nanomedicine, bioengineering, material chemistry and other fields. In this paper, the relationship between ER dysfunction and disease occurrence, the principle of designing ER-targeted nanodrugs and their biomedical application are reviewed. ER-targeted nanodrugs are designed based on nanodrug carriers or self-assembly of bioactive molecules. These nanodrugs could target the ER in an active or passive manner and function by disrupting or maintaining the ER functions. The ER-targeting nanodrugs have a wide application prospect in cancer therapy, immune regulation, nervous system repairment, and so on.

ABSTRACT

The calcium gate encoded by CCH1 and MID1 genes is the main channel for external calcium absorption. As one of the important secondary messengers, the elevation of calcium concentration could activate some pathways to take part in various cell processes. In this study, we used CCH1 and MID1 mutant strains and also constructed their complementary strains to study the effect of drug tolerance and virulence of Candida albicans after CCH1 or MID1 deletion. By drug plate sensitivity assay and the broth microdilution method, we compared the changes between different strains. Moreover, we added calcium channel blocker and inhibitors to analyze the effect of calcium concentration on drug action. After the deletion of CCH1 or MID1 gene, the strain exhibited an obvious sensitivity to FLUC and ITRA, and the drug action was regulated by the calcium concentration. In a mouse model of intravenous infection, we found that attenuated virulence of cch1delta/delta or mid1delta/delta strain is specifically due to a loss of CCH1 or MID1 gene.

ABSTRACT

Objective To find out about the distribution both of the kinds of diseases afflicting outpatients and of the volume of outpatient service in the hospital so as to control the quality of outpatient sen'ice in a scientific way. Methods Using the method of whole group sampling survey, an investigation was made into all the outpatients to the hospital during the five working days of a certain week in April, 2002. Results The departments ranking in the first five places with regard to the volume of outpatient service were respectively the Departments of Orthopedics, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Otorhinolaryngology and Gastrointestinal Diseases. The kinds of diseases ranking in the first five places were respectively upper respiratory tract infection, diabetes, hypertension, gastritis and pregnancy. First-visit patients accounted for 54.6% while return-visit patients accounted for 45.4% . Conclusion It is imperative for the hospital to enhance its discipline development, define the orientation of its discipline development in line with the disease spectrum, take active steps to meet various challenges and improve the o, uality of its medical service.

ABSTRACT

Objective To find out the classification of diseases contracted by patients of the emergency department. Methods A retrospective investigation and analysis was made of the medical records of 82 598 emergency cases in our hospital. Results Injury and poisoning, respiratory disease, and disease of digestive system were the first three kinds of disease treated by the emergency department; male emergency cases outnumbered female ones; the volume and visiting hours of emergency cases in a typical day take the shape of humps, with 19 to 21 hours being the climax; the ages of emergency cases averaged 41.5, with patients of the age group running from 19 to 35 being the largest in number in 16 kinds of disease. Conclusion ①It is imperative to determine the priorities of technology construction and the orientation of talent cultivation in the emergency department according to the disease spectrum of emergency cases. ②It is necessary to attach importance to the education of males in health, safely and precautions. ③It is essential to fully recognize the great significance that enhancement of the expertise of the emergency department carries with regard to the health of the population. ④It is important to rationally plan work in accordance with the rush hours of emergency cases's visits.
